A Postdoctoral position is open in the Department of Neuroscience at the Pasteur Institute, in collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company. This is to follow up on our paper in Nature Medicine (Koukouli et al, 2017, PMID: 28112735).
We propose to carry out patch-clamp recordings in the cortex of mice. The fellow will focus on deeper layers of cortex analysing human polymorphisms of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, and a human-specific gene of the nicotinic receptor family, CHRFAM7A, implicated in schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. We will combine “humanised” mouse models with the transplantation of human iPS-derived neurons.

The appointment is for 18 months initially, with a possible extension for another 18 months. We will consider candidates with a strong background in slice electrophysiology.
