About

Cassandra Koh is a vector biologist and virologist seeking to understand what makes mosquitoes such successful vectors of arboviral diseases.

The viruses that mosquitoes transmit are a great public health concern, especially in this shifting global climate. Mosquitoes in fact harbour incredibly diverse viral communities (also known as the virome) in which complex interactions between viruses and with the host immune responses govern the efficiency of arbovirus transmission.

Cassandra leads the ERC-funded Mosquito Virus Ecology group exploring the biology of diverse mosquito viruses and the host and viral determinants driving the emergence of novel mosquito transmitted viruses through a One Health perspective.
