Esthel joined the electron microscopy facility in 2016 after her bachelor’s degree in Institut Pasteur. She joined the facility’s research team to study the membrane biogenesis of Vaccinia Virus under the supervision of Jacomine Krijnse-Locker. During this time Esthel gain a lot of experience with sample preparation (infection of HeLa cells), conventional- and cryo-ultramicrotomy, Tokuyasu sectioning and gold immuno-labeling to localize proteins of interest. She is an advanced user of Tecnai Transmission Electron Microscopes and she is currently advancing on tomography. Since 2017, Esthel is taking over the facility’s quality procedures for the ISO 9001 certification. She is also responsible for the internal invoicing.
