Post-doctoral Research Opportunity in NeuroVirology at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France
A post-doctoral potition is available in the research team of Dr Guilherme Dias de Melo in the Lyssavirus Epidemiology and Neuropathology unit, headed by Pr. Hervé Bourhy. The team develops cutting-edge research to understand the basis and consequences of neurotropism.
The ANR-funded project N3CoV is an innovative initiative that aims to unravel the neurotropic mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2. The project seeks to understand how infection can lead to the development of persistent long Covid symptoms and trigger neurodegenerative processes.
Project Overview
- Investigate neuronal activity and neural stem cell fate in both acute and persistent infection
- Construct a hamster brain atlas under infection with temporal, spa.al and single cell resolution
- Utilize cutting-edge techniques including microelectrode arrays, microfluidics, animal behavior and spatial transcriptomics under infectious conditions
- Bridge hamster and human biology to find common molecular signatures and potential therapeutic targets
Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with interest in neurovirology.
Ideal applicants hold:
- A PhD in cell and molecular biology OR virology
- A solid background in virology, transcriptomics and imaging
- Hands-on experience with experimental animal and/or iPSCs models
- Technical expertise in working in BSL-3 environment
- A collaborative and creative spirit
- Scientific writing and publishing experience
- Strong written and oral communications skills in English
