Post-doctoral Research Opportunity in NeuroVirology at the Institut Pasteur, Paris, France

A post-doctoral potition is available in the research team of Dr Guilherme Dias de Melo in the Lyssavirus Epidemiology and Neuropathology unit, headed by Pr. Hervé Bourhy. The team develops cutting-edge research to understand the basis and consequences of neurotropism.

The ANR-funded project N3CoV is an innovative initiative that aims to unravel the neurotropic mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2. The project seeks to understand how infection can lead to the development of persistent long Covid symptoms and trigger neurodegenerative processes.

Project Overview

  • Investigate neuronal activity and neural stem cell fate in both acute and persistent infection
  • Construct a hamster brain atlas under infection with temporal, spa.al and single cell resolution
  • Utilize cutting-edge techniques including microelectrode arrays, microfluidics, animal behavior and spatial transcriptomics under infectious conditions
  • Bridge hamster and human biology to find common molecular signatures and potential therapeutic targets
