Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a rare cutaneous neoplasm, which rarely metastasizes, although local relapses are common. No environmental factors have been clearly identified. The pathomechanisms of DFSP involves the activation of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF-R) by a fusion transcript resulting from genomic instability, mainly a chromosomal translocation t(17;22), thus leading to a proliferation of CD34+, vimentin+, FXIIIa-, fibroblastic cells.
