A two-year postdoctoral position is available in the group of Structural Biology of Infectious Diseases at the Institut Pasteur (Paris, France)
The Structural Biology of Infectious Diseases Unit is a junior lab at the Institut Pasteur dedicated to investigating the molecular mechanism that mediate virus entry into host cells. We use a combination of structural biology, biophysics and virology approaches, aiming to apply the resulting information in the development of vaccines and antiviral therapies. For more information, check our work HERE *
We are looking for a person with strong track record and motivation to pursue a career in structural biology. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for characterizing antigen/antibody complexes and use the structural information to develop novel immunogens and therapeutic antibodies. The project will involve antigen design using AI-based approaches, antigen and antibody production, structural characterization using cryo-EM and x-ray crystallography, and functional characterization using neutralization, fusion and BLI assays. The group is hosted in an international and dynamic environment with extensive opportunities to learn new techniques and build collaborations. Our lab is fully equipped to move the project forward. Additionally, the Institut Pasteur is equipped with start-of-the-art microscopes, including two 200 kV Glacios and a 300 kV Titan Krios. The synchrotron Soleil is less than 1 hour from the Institut and we have fluid access to the crystallography and biophysics platforms, which are excellently equipped.
Required qualifications
- A PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, protein design or virology.
- Experience in one of the following techniques: structural biology (cryoEM or x-ray crystallography), virology (fusion or neutralization assays) or protein design.
- Good interpersonal skills
The application should contain
- A letter of motivation (1 page) with a short description of your research interests.
- A CV, including a list of relevant skills, experiences and a full publication list.
- Names and e-mail addresses of 2-3 reference persons, indicating their professional relation to you.
The starting date is negotiable. Ideally beginning 2025 but no later than May.
