Présentation
David BAKER – Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (London – UK)
This seminar will introduce cyclic nucleotide signalling in malaria parasites and will explain what is known so far about the role of the cGMP-dependent protein kinase (PKG) in regulating the parasite life cycle. A summary will be given of the recent phosphoproteome analysis designed to identify possible PKG substrates. The seminar will also briefly outline recent drug discovery results highlighting some highly potent and selective PKG inhibitors that target asexual blood stage replication and sexual development.
