Présentation
Johan Paulsson is a Swedish mathematician and systems biologist at Harvard Medical School. He is a leading researcher in systems biology and stochastic processes, specializing in stochasticity in gene networks and plasmid reproduction.
Title: General principles for dynamics in single bacterial cells
Many molecules in cells are present in such low numbers that individual chemical events can have great effects. I will describe how this radically changes the dynamics of various intracellular processes, from cell fate decisions to the dynamics of oscillators and DNA repair. The methods used involve theory for classes of stochastic processes, single-molecule counting assays, and various microfluidic techniques for imaging billions of individual cell divisions.
