Amaia did the PhD in Pharmacy in the Neuropsychopharmacology research group of the University of the Basque Country (Bilbao, Spain). Her doctoral thesis focused on the study of the cellular mechanisms involved in the alcohol use disorder, using in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Both before and during her doctoral studies, Amaia has also worked in 4 other laboratories in different countries, participating in different projects that range from the study of neurodegenerative diseases to virology. Amaia joined the group to participate in the project led by Dr. Brelot to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the biased signaling of G protein-coupled receptors and their possible manipulation for therapeutic purposes.
