  • Tip 1. Utilisez "" afin de chercher une expression exacte.
    Exemple : "division cellulaire"
  • Tip 2. Utilisez + afin de rendre obligatoire la présence d'un mot.
    Exemple : +cellule +stem
  • Tip 3. Utilisez + et - afin de forcer une inclusion ou exclusion d'un mot.
    Exemple : +cellule -stem

The Institut Pasteur (IP) seeks to recruit a new research group to reinforce its strategic priorities in the Pasteur Network in the French oversea territories.

Outstanding candidates in the junior and mid-career levels are invited to apply for an independent group leader position. A proven ability to collaborate is a requirement.

Successful applicants will join IP French Guiana, IP Guadeloupe, or IP New Caledonia and enjoy the vibrant interdisciplinary environment offered by Institut Pasteur. Candidates are encouraged to contact the Director of the Institute concerned before applying.

IP French Guiana, located in Cayenne, on the Southern American continent, equipped with 2 BSL-3, and hosting 4 National Reference Centers-Associated Laboratories (Arboviruses, Hantaviruses, Respiratory infection viruses, Malaria), 1 WHOCC (Malaria), 1 National Influenza Center, 1 Regional Reference Center (Tuberculosis) benefits from the equatorial and intertropical forest environments, a privileged characteristic for the understanding of vector-borne and emerging diseases of global interest by integrating the study of biodiversity at ecosystem interfaces. Director: Christophe PEYREFITTE, cpeyrefitte@pasteur-cayenne.fr

IP Guadeloupe, located in Les Abymes, in the Caribbean is a very well-equipped Institute with 1 BSL-3 dedicated to emerging diseases and Mycobacteria (Supranational Reference Laboratory for stop-TB program of WHO), a molecular biology platform, a chemical platform (LC/MS-MS, GC/MS, ICP/MS…). The institute has a single research unit: the environmental health unit with 10 researchers working on environmental pathogens, medical entomology (vectors control methods), resistance to antibiotics and recently impact of environmental pollutions on health. Three bioinformaticians are working in the unit. A One Health project should be launched in 2023 including all the research institutions of Guadeloupe, including the University Hospital of Pointe à Pitre. Development of programs related to metabolic diseases which represent a major public health problem is welcome, especially in relation with microbiota. Director: Antoine Des Graviers, adesgraviers@pasteur-guadeloupe.fr

IP of New Caledonia is located in Noumea. Anchored in a territory in the Pacific, the Institute benefits from a double location: within the Hospital of Noumea allowing the implementation of translational research programs and soon within the University of New Caledonia where it will benefit from a new laboratory dedicated to the research on vector and vector borne diseases. Research programs focus on health issues encountered in New Caledonia and in the Pacific. They include research on mosquitoes in the context of the World Mosquito program, vector-borne diseases, particularly arboviruses, and genetic susceptibility to viral infections in the Oceanic context. Finally, a number of research programs are ongoing focusing on the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in human health. These projects integrate a “one health” approach (human, animal and environmental health). Another research axis concerns marine and terrestrial biodiversity and its potential applications in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious diseases. The IPNC’s links with the main hospital, the University of New Caledonia and institutional health actors (Health Agency and DASS) will allow the development of future research programs on issues related to metabolic diseases, particularly in relation to the microbiota. Director: Marc JOUAN, mjouan@pasteur.nc

The Institut Pasteur is a non-profit private foundation dedicated to fundamental, interdisciplinary research and to the translation of knowledge for applications in medicine and public health (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/departments). Institut Pasteur is an equal opportunity employer, values diverse perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting, and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus environment.

The Institut Pasteur headquarter is located in the center of Paris and offers an outstanding research environment with state-of-the-art research laboratories, twenty technology platforms (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/center/c2rt), and a large bioinformatics and biostatistics support hub (https://research.pasteur.fr/en/team/bioinformatics-and-biostatistics-hub/ ). These facilities are open to Iaboratories of the Pasteur Network.

Depending on their previous experience, successful candidateswill be appointed with a tenure track position to head a group of 6 (G5 track) or 8 people (G5+ track), in the Institute they have applied for. These groups will be created for a period of 5 years and may thereafter apply for a 10-year full research group (U10).

Eligibility: G5 track junior group leaders must be less than 8 years after PhD, while G5+ track group leaders must be less than 12 years after PhD at the time of submission. For the G5 track, women are eligible up to 10 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 12 years after their PhD if they have two or more children. For the G5+ track, women are eligible up to 14 years after their PhD if they have one child and up to 16 years after their PhD if they have two or more children.

Highly attractive packages to match the experience of the candidate will be provided, including institutional salaries (principal investigator, technician, post-doctoral fellows), a substantial contribution to running costs and equipment, access to on campus state-of-the-art technology core facilities, as well as support for relocation expenses and administrative issues. The work contracts will be established with the institute hosting the G5.

The template for application can be downloaded here.

Applications should be sent as a single pdf file to AAC_OM23@pasteur.fr The application deadline is December 15 2023, 5pm CET. Shortlisted applicants will be notified by January 15, 2024 and invited to an interview in February 2024. Offers will be made in July 2024.
