Position description

A project manager position is immediately available in the Laboratory of Innovation in Hearing Therapies headed by Professor Christine Petit at the Hearing Institute, an Institut Pasteur center, in Paris (France).

The laboratory studies noise-related deafness and is involved in the search for biomarkers. We are currently seeking an Expert Researcher with a strong background in project management for a new translational research project involving an industrial partner and focusing on a particular form of deafness and the development of a cutting-edge therapeutic strategy.

The Hearing Institute

The Hearing Institute is an interdisciplinary fundamental and medical research center that aims to promote integrative approaches to basic auditory neuroscience, and to develop innovative diagnostic tools, and preventive and curative treatments for hearing disabilities. The Hearing Institute brings together world-class researchers from various fields, including neurophysiology, computational neuroscience, auditory cognition, genetics and genomics, cell biology and gene therapy. It is located in the center of Paris and includes a research center for innovation in human audiology, facilitating the efficient transfer of research advances to patients. The Hearing Institute provides an ideal environment for the training and development of young scientists, with many fruitful collaborations between teams.

 

Activities:

You will report to the Director of the Unit and work within a team of a dozen people.

As project manager, you will provide support for the development of the project, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with the timetable for deliverables. You will supervise the activities of your collaborators and monitor progress. You will ensure that all the relevant individuals are involved and collaborate at different stages of the project, so as to achieve the defined objectives. You will coordinate the project and facilitate smooth collaboration between internal stakeholders, to make sure that the project objectives are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with contractual standards. You will also regularly provide your superiors with information and updates on project progress. You will liaise actively with the administrative departments of Institut Pasteur involved in the project (Research Applications and Industrial Relations Department, Legal Department, Center for Translational Research – Clinical Coordination, etc.)

 

Operational Responsibilities:

– Contribution to the management of the scientific project and coordination of its implementation. Setting of individual and collective objectives and management of interactions between all those working on the project (researchers, engineers and technicians).

– Development of the project work plan and monitoring of progress and the achievement of milestones.

– Responsibility for monitoring deliverables, ensuring compliance with the agreed timetable.

– Allocation of internal resources.

– Coordination of  the activities of internal (Institut Pasteur) and external groups.

– Identification of obstacles that might lead to delays in project completion and the implementation, if necessary, of mitigation plans to overcome them.

– Preparation of monthly reports on the progress of the project.

– Updating of the timetable for project milestones, if necessary.

– Technical support for experiments, particularly for those involving murine models.

 

Qualifications :

You will hold a PhD in the field of biology and will since have acquired solid experience in project management and developed a taste for teamwork.

Designer Level animal experimentation certification (Level 1).

You will have a strong interest in new technologies and innovation.

You will have a good theoretical and experimental knowledge of molecular biology and of proteins, in particular.

You will also have knowledge in inflammation and immunology.
