“Reactive Species in Stress Signalling – From Single Cells to the Whole Organism”
Invited speaker: Martin Feelisch, MSc, Ph.D.
Faculty of Medicine, Clinical and Experimental Sciences, University of Southampton, UK
Abstract: The oxidative stress field has recently witnessed several important advances that have changed our understanding of the complex role of reactive species from potentially damaging to critical sensing/regulatory factors. Besides reactive oxygen species (ROS), several other reactive species are involved in redox signalling, which has been conceptualised in the form of the ‘Reactive Species Interactome’ (RSI) to which this speaker has significantly contributed. This network of interconnected reactions is employed for sensing and adaptation in biology.
He will cover the evolutionary background and history of redox regulation and stress signaling, and talk about the Reactive Species Interactome in health and disease.
