INTRODUCTION

Les micro-organismes représentent une immense biodiversité qui est indispensable à la vie sur cette terre et qui fournit une ressource quasi illimitée pour le développement de la biotechnologie en aval des applications.

Les résultats des travaux de recherche sont soigneusement conservés dans des milliers d’articles scientifiques par an, accessibles à la communauté scientifique et disponible en version papier et / ou électronique. Toutefois, l’accessibilité des microorganismes concernés par ces articles est incertaine et dépend souvent de la bonne volonté des chercheurs impliqués. L’accès aux ressources peut même être refusé comme une politique du secret stratégique basé sur une potentielle valeur économique. Et généralement, la disponibilité à long terme est rarement assurée par les groupes de recherche ou leurs instituts d’accueil. Déposer ces ressources biologiques au sein des Centres de Ressources Biologiques (CRB) (collections de références) permet d’assurer leur disponibilité.
