Sarah Wong completed her PhD at the University of Hong Kong in 2014, working on the characterization of a novel antifungal small molecule against Candida species. She then joined the Unit of Cytokines and Inflammation at the Institut Pasteur for three months as a visiting intern. During this period, she studied the effect of the drug Cyclosporin A, with both immunosuppressive and antifungal activities, in murine model of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis.
In January 2016, she returned to the Institut Pasteur to join the Unit of Aspergillus as a post-doctoral fellow. Since November 2018, she is affiliated to the Unit of Molecular Mycology of the Institut Pasteur, where she is focusing on the investigation of immune interaction between human hosts and air borne fungal pathogens, Aspergillus fumigatus and Cryptococcus neoformans.
