Hello! I am Sara Luisa, from Berlin in Germany, and I started my PhD under the supervision of Cosmin Saveanu in october of 2025 to work on nonsense-mediated RNA decay in Cryptococcus neoformans. The title of my project is “Coordination of nuclear and cytoplasmic RNA quality control mechanisms in Cryptococcus neoformans”.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biology at the Freie Universität Berlin, where I worked on song production in zebra finches as my final project. The results were published 2024 in Scientific reports (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-75353-w).
Then I continued my studies in Hamburg at the Universität Hamburg, where I focused my research on translation elongation and heat stress in Arabidopsis thaliana.
I am especially interested to understand molecular mechanisms of life and I am happy to continue my work here at the Institut Pasteur as part of the PPU program.
