Leonardo Heyerdahl is a social scientist focused on epidemics research.
At Institut Pasteur and in collaboration with the Red Cross and the European RECOVER project, Leonardo is developing and implementing hybrid methods spanning from computational social science to ethnographic fieldwork to characterize, measure the impact, and act upon infodemics during the COVID-19 pandemic in several European countries.
Since 2010 he has lead on-field operational research to support Ministries of Health during Ebola and cholera epidemics in Côte D’Ivoire, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
Leonardo holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Lyon, France. He also holds an Msc in Sociology from Université de Caen Basse Normandie, France, and a Master in Humanitarian project management from the Université Aix-Marseille I, France.
