Job description:
The Human Genetics and Cognitive Functions unit at the Institut Pasteur seeks a highly motivated data/project manager to coordinate the different research projects on autism, in close collaboration with researchers, clinicians and families.
The lab has pioneered the identification of mutations in genes encoding synaptic proteins as risk factors in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In the last ten years, we have identified and characterized new ASD-risk genes and characterized ASD across cellular, neural, and behavioral levels, putting us at the forefront of autism research in Europe and a key collaborator for international researchers in the field.
ASD is a highly heterogeneous disease, at both genetic and phenotypic levels. Hundreds of genes have now been associated with ASD risk, and clinical manifestations can vary widely, including individuals with mild social interaction impairments and other individuals with strong intellectual disability or epilepsy. To understand the genetic basis of this neurodevelopmental disease, we must analyse both genetic and clinical profiles of the affected individuals and their relatives.
Thomas Bourgeron has a leading role in projects aiming at the genetic and phenotypic characterization of the largest European cohort of ASD families (N>1000). In parallel, the lab continuously generates sequencing data for hundreds of individuals in France and Europe, in close collaboration with clinicians who provide clinical records.
We are looking for a skilled individual, with a bioinformatics package and a previous experience in project management, to be at the interface between researchers and clinicians in the lab and in our international projects. She/he will be responsible of the coordination of the lab projects at the operational level.
Her/his specific missions include but are not restricted to:
- Biological samples follow-up (inclusion, quality control and pre-processing)
- Connection with clinicians and biobank
- Connection with the Centre National de Génotypage (CNG)
- Quality control follow-up and processing of genetic data
- Coordination of the genetic data of the projects
- SNP (PLINK files)
- CNV (bed files)
- SNV (Fastq, Bam, VCF)
- Importing genetic and clinical data in databases
- GEMINI (https://gemini.readthedocs.io/en/latest/)
- PaDaWaN (data warehouse at the Institut Pasteur)
Essential skills:
As the lab projects involve French and non-French speaking collaborators, both French and English speaking and writing are mandatory.
A previous experience in project management is required; in human genetics would be a plus.
Extensive knowledge of human genetics is necessary, as well as solid computer skills, especially in office tools, scripting and file/database management.
Application:
Send a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter including contacts of 3 references to corinne.baran@pasteur.fr
