MORN repeats are a ubiquitous class of protein repeat motifs, but are far less characterised at either a functional or a structural level than ankyrin repeats, armadillo repeats, and other families. The high-resolution structures of MORN1 proteins from Trypanosoma, Toxoplasma, and Plasmodium will be presented here, with new insights into the repeats’ use in homotypic interactions, and their reported function as lipid-binding modules.
