About
Short abstract :
Nearly 20 years after decoding the first Leishmania genome there is still great uncertainty about the function of many of the ~8000 predicted protein-coding genes. Using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing tools we are systematically interrogating loss-of-function phenotypes in vitro and in vivo, using L. mexicana as our model species, to discover the relative importance of specific genes and pathways in different life cycle stages. I will be discussing results from targeted screens of flagellar proteins and membrane transporters and talk about our ongoing genome-wide deletion screen.
