To promote scientific cooperation between Japan and France, Institut Pasteur offers its research entities the possibility of hosting – starting fall 2019 and for a 2 year-period – a postdoctoral fellow, having conducted her/his higher education (including her/his PhD) in Japan. This fellowship is co-funded by Institut Pasteur, the French Embassy in Japan and the Japan Pasteur Foundation.This unique opportunity will be driven by a 2-step application procedure described as follows.

A 2-step application procedure:
- Step 1: Internal call for research projects open to scientists from Institut Pasteur (Paris) interested in hosting and training in her/his laboratory a young researcher, having conducted her/his higher education (including her/his PhD) in Japan through a postdoctoral fellowship opportunity.

Deadline for research project submission: June 7, 2019
Announcement of the short-list of five selected research projects: June 21, 2019
Step 2: First call for a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship for young scientists having conducted her/his higher education (including her/his PhD) in Japan and willing to work at Institut Pasteur
- Step 2.1: Publication of the call including the list and summary of short-listed research projects. Interested candidates will be asked to individually contact the scientist in charge of the project, who will be responsible for selecting one applicant.
Publication Date: July 8, 2019
- Step 2.2: Submission of a complete application file by the postdoctoral candidate in collaboration with the dedicated Institut Pasteur Host Laboratory.
Deadline submission: October 31, 2019
- Step 2.3: Final selection of the laureate of the postdoctoral fellowship by a tripartite committee (with representatives of Institut Pasteur, the French Embassy in Japan and the Pasteur Japan Foundation) to start the project at the Institut Pasteur Host Laboratory by the end of 2019.
Anticipated announcement of the decision: November 29, 2019
