The Design for Biology center of Institut Pasteur, in cooperation with the Association Arbre des Connaissances (ADC), presented on Friday April 13th the basic concepts of Synthetic Biology and its applications in terms of innovations to the students of the Pauline Roland High School. This action follows the participation of the students in a debate Game JAD (Jeu à débattre) on the Ethical values behind the exploration of GMOs, and the impact of Synthetic Biology in terms of environmental, social and economic development on a community of villages. The JAD is carried out in High Schools around by the country by ADC under the support of the Ministry of Research, Higher Education, and Innovation.
The Arbre des connaissances association has participated for the past seven years at Institut Pasteur for the “Apprentis Chercheurs” training program of younger students to approach science under the supervision of bench scientists and PhD Students.
The Design for Biology Center runs the iGEM Pasteur Paris Program competition of synthetic biology initiated by the MIT (Boston, USA).
