An immediate vacancy is available for a Research Technician in the “Mitochondrial Biology” laboratory at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.
Timothy Wai’s Laboratory at the Institut Pasteur in Paris is looking for a Senior Research Technician to join the team to undertake a therapeutic screening project targeting mitochondrial diseases funded by the Institut Pasteur and ArgoBioStudio.
The nematode Caenorhabditis elegans will be used in selectivity screening and compound validation studies to identify molecules capable of correcting mitochondrial dysfunction in our mitochondrial disease models.
As a Senior Research Technician, you will take part in research activities and perform assigned laboratory tasks in accordance with standard and specific procedures. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the nematode collection, as well as working in collaboration with our researchers on molecular and cellular phenotyping studies in our human cell models.
Duties/activities:
- Perform phenotypic screening work
- Cell culture of human and murine cells
Profile required
- Cell culture skills
- Molecular biology skills: extraction of DNA, RNA, PCR, RT-PCR
- Basic microscopy skills
- Strong motivation, autonomy, dynamism, teamwork, ability to learn and invest, rigor and conscientiousness
- Skills and/or curiosity in mitochondrial biology.
Qualifications:
- Bac +2/+3 (BTS, DUT, Licence professionnelle)
Environment:
Candidates will benefit from training in a collaborative and dynamic environment, an international
international environment and a diverse, multidisciplinary team. Our research strategy is based on cutting-edge science in the fields of cell biology and mitochondrial biochemistry. We apply this knowledge to preclinical animal models and patient biopsy-derived cell models to fill fundamental gaps in translational knowledge in rare diseases.
