The Wai Lab in the Department of Cell Biology and Infection at the Institut Pasteur in Paris is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow interested in mitochondria and innate immunity. We have a project focused on understanding the link between SARS-CoV-2 and mitochondrial dysfunction. There will be opportunities to work on modifier screens, & functional analyses in cells in collaboration with the Schwartz Lab in the Department of Virology. Our projects employ approaches in cell biology and image analysis, biochemistry, virology, and omics.
The Wai lab is well equipped for in vitro investigations of mitochondrial and cell physiology and in vivo animal studies and the Schwartz lab is a leader in the field of SARS-CoV-2 research. The Institut Pasteur is the top research life science research institute in France, with 10 Nobel Laureates. Situated in the center of Paris, Institut Pasteur campus of Paris hosts about 3,000 persons of which 2,000 are scientists (permanent scientific staff, engineers, students and post-doctoral fellows) of over 60 nationalities. Research is conducted by 135 laboratories (including five-year junior groups), three “laboratories of excellence” (LabEx), 15 technological platforms, 16 National Reference Centers (NRC). Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of COVID-19 research and diagnosis.
