Luxendo InVi-SPIM microscope demo @ Imagopole.
The Imagopole will host mid-March a 1-week demo of the latest Light-Sheet Microscope from the Luxendo company, the InVi-SPIM.
The InVi-SPIM is an inverted SPIM. It features a mounting approach by means of gravity into a “trough” of FEP foil through which the specimen is illuminated and imaged from below.
It seems to be optimised for samples not suitable for capillary mounting so not the usual zebrafish / mouse embryo but rather for mouse pre-implantation, or cell cultures. It looks like this system is aimed at Cello Biologists as well.

What is it?
A commercial Light-Sheet microscope aimed for Cell Biology and samples not compatible with SPIM. For instance:
- Mouse early embryo.
- Mammalian cell cultures.

Roughly speaking, this is the second system coming from Lars Hufnagel, Jan Eilenberg @ EMBL. You can find good information in their recent paper about the system:

The system is equipped with a 25x 1.1 NA objective lens with an additional 2.5-fold magnification (effective magnification of 62.5x), resulting in a 210 x 210 micron field of view and 104 nm pixel size. Available laser lines in the demo system are 488, 515, 561 and 642 nm, filters are matching BPs and LPs. There are two cameras for two-channel imaging.
The system comes with environmental control (temperature, CO2, O2, optionally N2). We can accommodate N2 supply in a safe working environment within the Imagopole.
