Focused ion beam scanning EM is typically applied to analyze whole cells in 3D. In 2016 Atlas-5 was installed on our Auriga with the goal to establish the automated imaging of serial sections, which finds its application in the analysis of the 3D organization of tissue. During the course of 2017 the Auriga will be equipped with a cryo-transfer station enabling for the 3D analysis of samples preserved by freezing only.
