ABOUT THE PRIZE
The Georges, Jacques and Elias Canetti prize is based on a donation to the Institut Pasteur which arises from the earnings of the published correspondence of Elias, Veza and Georges Canetti written between 1937 and 1952. The Canetti prize recognizes a research scientist, whose work made an innovative contribution on infectious diseases.
The laureate will receive a grant of 15,000 € to support his/her research during a ceremony organized by the Institut Pasteur and the Canetti family.
NOMINATOR ELIGIBILITY
- Heads of entities, group leaders, emeritus and honorary professors working at the Institut Pasteur are eligible to nominate a candidate
- Nominations from nominators who currently collaborate or have collaborated with the nominee in the past five years will not be accepted.
- Members of the Institut Pasteur Direction (CoDir) are not eligible to nominate a candidate, but members of their laboratories may be nominated.
- Nominators can submit only one nomination per award.
- Nomination files will remain eligible for two years and may be updated, provided the nominee continues to meet the eligibility criteria and the nominator confirms their intention the nomination for a secon year.
NOMINEE ELIGIBILITY
- Self-nomination is not allowed
- Eligible nominees must have worked at the Institut Pasteur for a minimum of five years and must hold, at the time of application, a permanent position either at the Institut Pasteur or as an OREX (CNRS, Inserm, Inra, etc.).
- Awardees are not eligible for another prize for a period of five years following the last award obtained.
- Scientists whose entity will close within two years following the award are not eligible.
SELECTION OF LAUREATES
An ad hoc committee will select the laureate of the Canetti Prize.
Laureate selection is subject to approval by the President of the Institut Pasteur.

Complete nomination file (download here) should be sent by the nominator to hafida.fsihi@pasteur.fr
as a single pdf file, bearing the name of the nominee, before the deadline of: September 8th, 2025.
