Institut Pasteur in Paris is one of the leading institutes worldwide in fundamental biology and biomedical research. It is home to more than 130 research groups with scientists from over 70 countries.
Institut Pasteur recently created the Center for Innovation and Technological Research (Citech1) to regroup the Core Facilities into Units of Technology and Service (UTechS). A new UTechS will regroup all four existing facilities working on protein technologies (Recombinant Protein Production, Nanobodies, Biophysics, and X-Ray Crystallography) and their 15 full-time permanently funded personnel.
We have an opening for the Head of a UTechS dedicated to protein technologies:
The responsibilities will include empowering the unit in providing state-of-the-art scientific support, both by delivering high-level services, and providing access to instrumentation and expertise, and by developing new technologies in protein science and engineering. The successful candidate must hold a PhD degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Life Sciences or Bioengineering with proven track record of successfully running a Core Facility in academia or a similar structure in a private company. Demonstrated managerial and organizational skills to lead a fairly large multi-disciplinary team and streamline operations are a must. The ideal candidate should have a proven record of scientific and/or technology development publication in the field of protein science, and a demonstrated capacity to secure external funding through successful grant writing and/or industrial contracts. It is expected that the successful candidate will lead a technology-oriented research group (max 6 persons) working on topics related, but not restricted to, protein-based diagnostics and therapeutics, target-based drug design or protein dynamics.
This is a full-time tenured position permanently funded by the Institut Pasteur. We offer a dynamic working environment in an international and multidisciplinary world-renowned institute. Scientific language is English. We are an equal opportunity employer. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
Application must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae with publications, summary of service and research accomplishments (3 pages max), a personal statement on the missions, operations, success factors and challenges associated with managing core facilities (2 pages max), and a research project for the technology-oriented research group (4 pages max). Applications are to be submitted by June 1st, 2017 to Prof. Alain Israel (utechsprot@pasteur.fr).
For further information, please contact Prof. JC Olivo-Marin (jcolivo@pasteur.fr) (confidentiality is assured).
