The Institut Pasteur is a collective scientific adventure, structured around more than 140 research units. New group leaders are hired regularly to establish research teams, opening our institute to new fields of investigation. Our goal is to provide them with a supportive environment and adequate resources that allow them to thrive both scientifically and personally.
If you join us to create your research team, you will get access to:
- a starting package that will typically include an Institut Pasteur permanent position (if necessary) for you with a competitive salary, as well as a technician position and funding for postdocs and/or PhDs, and a recurrent funding and an significant equipment budget to start your own lab;
- a relocation package;
- internal opportunities for PhD student and post-doc funding and support to obtain grants from outside academic partners;
- administrative support: each research team is accompanied in its day-to-day operations by a dedicated administrative assistant (part-time, shared with other units on campus);
- access to cutting-edge core facilities;
- mentoring: Institut Pasteur has implemented a mentoring process dedicated to young PIs. Each group leader is assigned a mentor within the first 3 months of his or her arrival. This relationship will help you settle in your new role as PI;
- no teaching obligations.
Each new junior research team (called G5) is created for a period of five years. At the end of this period, the group is evaluated on the basis of its achievements and its project proposal for the next 10 years (as a full unit called U10) by the Scientific Council which decides on its renewal.
