About
The MoustiKAP-P project aims to address the increasing challenge of autochthonous mosquito-borne diseases in mainland France by developing acceptable and feasible disease control and communication strategies.
It proposes a transdisciplinary approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, to investigate public attitudes, practices, and preferences regarding various prevention methods.
The ultimate goal is to co-create a panel of interventions and corresponding communication materials that can be readily implemented to manage future outbreaks, not only in France but potentially as a reference for other European countries.
Objectives
- To qualitatively assess attitudes, practices, barriers, and levers for methods to prevent mosquito-borne diseases among the following stakeholders:
1) people living in areas with increased incidence of mosquito-borne disease;
2) persons with previous diagnosis of mosquito-borne diseases;
3) healthcare workers who would potentially treat these diseases;
4) members of health authorities who define and organize epidemic response. - To elicit preferences around preventative strategies and communication against mosquito-borne diseases that may vary by geographic department and related incidence/prevalence of these diseases in the departments where participants live. This will also expand evidence on knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) for mainland France.
- To develop communication content for preventative interventions against mosquito-borne diseases. This will be co-developed with stakeholders and communication experts to function as a ready-to-use guide for future outbreaks.
