Rewhandamzi Boms is a Research Engineer in the Emerging Disease Epidemiology Unit at Institut Pasteur. His work focuses on infectious diseases, particularly at the intersection of research and implementation science. He adopts a holistic approach—encompassing diagnostic performance evaluation, usability, healthcare worker preferences, and health system capacity—to assess the feasibility and impact of an innovative multiplex point-of-care diagnostic for disease screening in sub-Saharan Africa. His work supports the World Health Organization’s triple elimination initiative to prevent mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis, and contributes to evidence-based strategies for implementing diagnostic tools in low-resource settings.
Rewhandamzi has experience in clinical, consulting, and research roles across Nigeria, Ireland, France, and sub-Saharan Africa. He is a trained pharmacist from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and holds a double Master’s degree in Public Health and Advanced Epidemiology and Biostatistics from University College Dublin and EHESP School of Public Health, respectively.
