About

Keita Kayama is a PhD student in the Pasteur-Paris University (PPU) program at the Institut Pasteur, starting in October 2024 under the supervision of Dr. Guilhem Janbon. His research focuses on extracellular vesicles and lipid metabolism of Cryptococcus, a pathogenic fungus. Keita received his master’s degree from the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kyoto University in Japan, where he conducted research on wood-decaying fungi under the supervision of Dr. Yoichi Honda in the Laboratory of Forest Biochemistry. This work provided him with a strong foundation in molecular biology and fungal genetics. Passionate about microbiology and fungal pathogens, he aims to contribute to the understanding of fungal biology and the development of strategies to combat fungal infections.
