François obtained his PhD from the Goethe University, Germany, where he gained expertise in molecular functions of autophagy investigating the content of autophagosomes using proteomics tools in the lab of Dr Christian Behrends.
He then joined the lab of Dr Richard Youle at the NIH, USA, to expand his scientific knowledge and have access to state of the art technology, as well as being in contact of world leaders in their field. There, he successfully completed a research project investigating the regulation of mitophagy, with potential important implications for neurodegenerative diseases treatments.
Since 2024, François is now a member of the scBiomarker core facility.
