Since my childhood I have been fascinated by science and always wanted to become a scientist. My passion for parasitology and thus also for malaria research, which is caused by the Plasmodium parasite, began in one of my specialisation courses during my bachelor’s degree. From then on, I took every opportunity, such as internships, to further deepen my knowledge in this field.
Today I’m very grateful to be a PhD candidate within the Plasmodium liver biology group led by Liliana Mancio Silva here at Institut Pasteur. My scientific focus will be on the molecular mechanisms in the transmission process of the Plasmodium parasites.
With my research, I would like to contribute to gain further fundamental knowledge of the life cycle. In order to develop more effective countermeasures against this disease, a better understanding of the different mechanisms used by the parasite is urgently needed.
