Ashish obtained his Bachelor degree from Amity University Lucknow, followed by a Master degree at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam. He then joined the lab of Prof. Dr. Felix Mueller-Planitz in the Molecular Biology department, Biomedical Center at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. In his PhD, Ashish investigated the mechanisms of nucleosome positioning, spacing and their functions in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, with particular focus on the role of transcription and nucleosome remodelers of the INO80 and ISWI families. During his postdoc in the lab of Dr. Pablo Navarro Gil, he is studying the role of chromatin factors in mitotic inheritance and maintenance of cell identity using mouse ES cells.
