We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming Pasteur Network Monthly Seminar that will be held on December 12th 2:00 pm (CET).

This seminar is entitled: The INRS Armand-Frappier Research Center : A new focus on arbovirus threats to fight against infectious diseases and will be presented by:

David Chatenet, Director of the Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research

Laurent Chatel-Chaix, Head of the containment Level 3 Laboratory

Summary of the conference:

The Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Center (AFSB) of the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) located in Laval (Quebec, Canada) is devoted to contributing to Quebec’s efforts in research, training and technology transfer to improve human, animal and environmental health.

This seminar will highlight the new efforts of the Armand-Frappier Research Center in implementing a novel biocontainment level-3 research pipeline for responding to future pandemics and epidemics caused by arboviruses. This may foster new opportunities for collaborations with multiples members of the Pasteur Network which are at the forefront of the fight against arboviral threats.

The speakers

David Chatenet
David is a Full Professor and Director of the Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre. With expertise in pharmacochemistry, medicinal chemistry, peptide engineering, and pharmacology, David leads cutting-edge research in drug development and biotechnology. His work focuses on designing innovative therapeutic agents and advancing biopharmaceutical technologies.

Laurent Chatel-Chaix
Laurent is a Full Professor at the Armand-Frappier Research center of INRS. With the aim to better understand flavivirus pathogenesis and to identify new promising antiviral targets, his research team focuses on the identification of flavivirus/host interactions engaged in the viral hijacking of cellular machineries important for the infection. He also works on SARS-CoV-2 and uses innovative in vivo infection models to study viral neuropathogenesis. He is also the head of the containment level 3 laboratory of INRS.
