About

Endometriosis is a multifactorial chronic disease characterized by the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, leading to pain and infertility. Its pathogenesis involves complex hormonal, immunological, inflammatory, and neuroangiogenic mechanisms. Despite advances in both medical and surgical treatments, recurrence remains a significant challenge. Emerging evidence suggests that alterations in the gut and reproductive tract microbiota may contribute to disease onset and progression. This presentation will provide an integrative overview of endometriosis, with a particular focus on the potential role of bacterial factors in its pathophysiology and implications for future therapeutic strategies.
