Kick-off Meeting: European Vaccines Hub (EVH) Launches to Strengthen Pandemic Preparedness

The European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness (EVH), a Europe-wide initiative aimed at accelerating vaccine research and development, was officially launched at its kick-off meeting in Siena, Italy. Coordinated by the Sclavo Vaccines Association and funded through the EU4Health programme, EVH brings together 11 main partners and 13 affiliated organizations from seven countries, fostering collaboration to strengthen Europe’s preparedness for future pandemics.
The project is structured around four key pillars:
- Discovery – Fondazione Biotecnopolo di Siena (Italy)
- Preclinical Studies – Institut Pasteur (France)
- Clinical Studies – Vaccinopolis, University of Antwerp (Belgium)
- Manufacturing & Regulation – German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) (Germany)
The Kick-off Meeting gathered over 160 participants, including representatives from HERA, HaDEA, EMA, Italian ministries and all consortium partners, marking the start of a coordinated EU effort to develop pandemic-prototype vaccines and scalable manufacturing capacity.
