After obtaining a master in neurobiology at UNAM (Mexico), I moved to France to pursue a PhD in the laboratory of Dr. Pierre Billuart (Institut Cochin, Paris), as an “École des Neurosciences de Paris” fellow. During that period I focused on the synaptic and genetic mechanisms of intellectual disability, mostly using an in vitro approach. In 2016, I joined Dr. Franck Oury’s team (INEM) as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the hormonal regulation of the central nervous system, with a specific focus on cognition. In the Wai lab I will use in vitro and vivo approaches to elucidate the role of mitochondrial dynamics on brain function, in physiological and pathological conditions.
