I did my PhD at the Institut Cochin (France) in the laboratory of Bénédicte Chazaud where I analysed the interactions between macrophages and muscle cellular environment in human and mice. Then I moved to the laboratory of Graziella Messina in Milan (Italy) to study the function of the transcription factor Nfix in macrophages phenotype and behavior after acute muscle injury and in degenerative myopathies. These works demonstrated that, depending on the environmental context, macrophages can be benefic or deleterious to tissue recovery. I joined the laboratory of Han Li to decipher the cellular communication between senescent cells and macrophages during muscle repair and in pathological degeneration.
