ABOUT THE PRIZE
The Pasteur Vallery-Radot Prizewas established in 2007 byJacqueline Pasteur Vallery-Radot; was the wife of the grandson of Louis Pasteur. She has installed the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) as her universal legatee to give this prize every year from the capital of her legacy.
The Pasteur Vallery-Radot Prize is awardedto two researchers of the Institut Pasteur (under 50 years old on 1st of January of the following year*) for research results of important impact in biology, physics or chemistry obtained during the last 5 years.
Prize money: Two prizes of 16 000€ each (for the laureates).
NOMINATOR ELIGIBILITY
- Heads of entities, emeritus and honorary professors working at the Institut Pasteur are eligible to nominate a candidate.
- Nominations from nominators who are currently collaborating, or have collaborated within the last five years, with the nominee will not be accepted.
- Members of the Institut Pasteur Scientific Council and the Institut Pasteur Direction (CoDir) are not eligible to nominate a candidate, but members of their laboratories may be nominated.
- Nominators can submit only one nomination per award.
- Nomination files will remain eligible for two years and can be updated, provided the nominee is still eligible for the Prize.
NOMINEE ELIGIBILITY
- Self-nomination is not allowed.
- Eligible nominee must have worked at the Institut Pasteur for a minimum of five years and must hold, at the time of the nomination, a permanent position either at the Institut Pasteur or as an OREX (CNRS, Inserm, INRA, etc.).
- Eligible nominee must be under 50 years old of age. *However, an extension of this eligibility window is allowed in case of career breaks due to maternity or parental leave, extended sick leave, etc.
- A nominee can only be put forward for one application per calendar year (January1st-December 31st, 2025).
- Awardees are not eligible for another Institut Pasteur award for a period of five years following the last award obtained.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Institut Pasteur Scientific Council will select four candidates at its annual meeting in March 2025. This list will be then proposed to the Académie des Sciences that select two awardees among these four candidates.
Laureate selection is subject to approval by the President of the Institut Pasteur.
