I first entered the field of mycology in the laboratory of Prof. Christophe Hennequin (AP-HP Saint-Antoine), where I investigated the genus Malassezia and its clinical impact in hospital environments, particularly within Parisian neonatal intensive care units. My work involved defining the clonal structure of epidemic strains through mitogenomic analysis and later expanding to a broader characterization of the genus, including antifungal susceptibility profiling and the assessment of routine hospital diagnostic methods such as blood cultures.
Motivated by an increasing fascination with fungal biology and the evolutionary strategies that shape it, I chose to specialize in fungal genetics. I completed my Master’s research internship in Guilhem Janbon’s lab, where I am now conducting my PhD. My project focuses on a co-transcriptional diversification mechanism and its contribution to the pathophysiology of the human fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans.
Beyond my research activities, I am strongly committed to fostering greater visibility and appreciation of mycology. I enjoy teaching Master’s students at Sorbonne University and engaging in science outreach initiatives aimed at adult audiences, with the goal of making the fungal world more accessible, compelling, and (hopefully) inspiring.
