    Exemple : +cellule -stem
e.g. searching for members in projects tagged cancer

Présentation

A CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL

Why infected individuals fail to mount protective immune responses against Mycobacteria is the subject of intense research aiming to both reduce diseases burden and discover new means to manipulate immunity. Virulence of Mycobacterium ulcerans (causing Buruli ulcers) is due to secretion of mycolactone, a polyketide-derived lipid with tissue-specific properties. In addition to inducing skin ulceration and analgesia, mycolactone dampens inflammatory responses at the systemic level. This seminar will describe the identification of the Sec61 translocon as the host receptor targeted by mycolactone, thus revealing the importance of protein translocation in immune responses and other key biological processes. It will also introduce the concept that certain host-derived lipids represent a novel class of natural antibiotics, and can be considered as an additional effector arm of the innate immune system.

This conference is open to the public. However pre-registration is mandatory at least two days prior to the actual conference. Please send an email to SCconferences@pasteur.fr with your name, first name, your institution and how you heard about the conference. We will  then acknowledge reception of your message and give you indications to attend the conference. We look forward to welcoming you.
