Description: Episodes of Saharian dust are frequent in Guadeloupe and should even increse with the global warning in the future. They have already been responsible for the demise of Caribbean coral reefs due to Aspergillus sydowiiaspergillus.
Fifteen Air samples will be taken during and out episodes of Saharian dust in two places of Guadeloupe. Filters will be analysed using classical microbiological technichs and metagenomix approaches.
Comparison between sites according to the importance of Saharian dust will be made in order to evaluate the potential role of Saharian dust in the diffusion of athogens.
Goal: The aims of this project are to analyse by classical microbiology and metagenomic approachs, the microorganisms present in this sajharian dust and to evaluate the dangers for humans.
