About
The choroid plexus (CP) is a brain border producing the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), the liquid in which the brain is floating (yes! Your brain is floating suspended in liquid!). The CSF is key for brain maintenance: it carries nutrients and regulatory factors supporting the brain and flows through the brain cleaning the brain tissue from waste and toxins. We now know that this flow is different when we sleep. We therefore investigate the activities of the CP during the day and night. We already know the CP works differently during day and night. But how does it know it’s day or night? And is this circadian activity of the CP important for the brain to stay healthy as we age?
