The main idea behind the consortium is to pull together a set of strong experimental approaches and expertise that were developed in the laboratories of Pascale Cossart  at the Pasteur Institute in Paris and Rotem Sorek at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, and create a toolbox that will serve to decipher new RNA-based mechanisms of regulation in a vast array of model microorganisms.

Specifically, the consortium will:

-Identify non-coding RNAs of key microorganisms in environmental and virulence-related conditions

-Understand the roles of identified non-coding RNAs in microbial physiology

-Understand the mechanisms of action of non-coding RNAs and identify their targets
