Institut Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh City

First funded in Saigon by Albert Calmette in 1891, the Institute was moved to Ho Chi Minh in 1979. In 1891, this was the only Institut Pasteur in Indochina and was the first branch located outside of France.

Also known as the “Institute of Epidemiology”, the Institut Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for the management of hygiene and epidemics in the southern region of the Vietnam.

The principal missions of the Institut Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh are:

  • Research on medical biology, microbiology, immunology, epidemiology on infectious diseases and vaccine trial.
  • Outbreak investigation and epidemic control and national health programs management.
  • Vaccine production and diagnostic bio-products.
  • Post-graduate and continued training for health staff.
  • Health Services: Clinical Laboratory Analyses, Immunization and Dispensary services.
  • International collaboration for scientific research and training.
