INRS - Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre

The INRS–Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre was created in 1998 when Institut Armand-Frappier, named after its founder and created in 1938 on the Pasteur model, joined forces with Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). Today, the centre’s activities include research and training in human, animal and environmental health, including microbiology, immunology, epidemiology and biotechnology. The centre has approximately 150 employees, including some fifty professor-researchers, as well as 200 students and postdoctoral fellows.

The INRS–Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie Research Centre contributes to Quebec’s efforts in research, post-graduate training and technology transfer in the fields of:

  • Infections and immunity.
  • Action of xenobiotic factors and genetic variations on health.
  • Development of therapeutic and prophylactic agents and diagnostic tools and.
  • Biosystemic analysis to the service of health.

The Centre Armand-Frappier Santé Biotechnologie’s research themes are designed to promote synergy and interdisciplinarity between our professors. By joining forces, they find sustainable and innovative solutions and advance knowledge in these four activity sectors essential for the well-being and development of Quebec’s society.
