In the framework of the EVOMOBIL ERC project , I am involved in the exhaustive description of MGEs (Mobile Genetic Elements) families in archaeal genomes, and on the analysis of their Co-evolution with their host, by phylogenetic and network approches. My project is to reconstruct the history of interaction between cells, and MGEs on grand scale to tackle questions such as: to which extent MGEs co-evolved with their hosts? To which extent cellular history was influenced by the introduction of MGEs? What is the main directionality of genes flux between MGEs and cells? The project will focus on Archaea, one of the three domains of life.
