Eliane Coëffier, PhD – Cellular Immunologist

Eliane Coëffier born in 1957 in France, is a former researcher in cellular immunology. She studied at the University Paris Diderot in Paris and after a Master in General Human Biology and a Master in Biochemistry in 1978 she earned her PhD in 1982.

Eliane Coëffier worked 4 years at INSERM as a postdoctoral research fellow with a CIFRE Grant from Rhône Poulenc Research and Claude Bernard grant.

In 1986 Eliane Coëffier joined the Institut Pasteur as cellular immunologist researcher:
1985-1992, Cellular Pharmacology Unit / INSERM U285 (B. Boris Vargaftig) on Study of the role of eosinophils in asthma and modulation of eosinophil activation by cytokines.
1992-1994, Interferons and Cytokines Unit / INSERM U365, Institut Curie (Jeanne Wietzerbin) on Identification of factors involved in transcriptional regulation by IFNgamma the gene coding for the high affinity receptor for IgG, the FcgammaRI or CD64.
1995-2000, Biology of Immune Regulations Unit (Claude Leclerc) on Antibody specificity study directed against an envelope protein of HIV-1 in HIV vaccine trials. Study of the antigenicity and immunogenicity of fusion proteins MalE carrying an epitope of HIV-1.
2001-2002, Bordetella Unit (Nicole Guiso) on The ability to study the adenylate cyclase of Bordetella pertussis to induce T cell activation. Developing means of prevention against pertussis, immunotherapy and new vaccine.

In June 2002, Eliane joined the International Affairs Department- Institut Pasteur International Network as Senior Project Manager responsible of International Training and Development of Young Researchers in the Institut Pasteur International Network in charge of the Calmette & Yersin International Training Program, Fellowships, G4 and Pasteur International Joint Research Units.
