Eliane Coëffier born in 1957 in France, is a former researcher in cellular immunology. She studied at the University Paris Diderot in Paris and after a Master in General Human Biology and a Master in Biochemistry in 1978 she earned her PhD in 1982.
Eliane Coëffier worked 4 years at INSERM as a postdoctoral research fellow with a CIFRE Grant from Rhône Poulenc Research and Claude Bernard grant.
In 1986 Eliane Coëffier joined the Institut Pasteur as cellular immunologist researcher:
• 1985-1992, Cellular Pharmacology Unit / INSERM U285 (B. Boris Vargaftig) on Study of the role of eosinophils in asthma and modulation of eosinophil activation by cytokines.
• 1992-1994, Interferons and Cytokines Unit / INSERM U365, Institut Curie (Jeanne Wietzerbin) on Identification of factors involved in transcriptional regulation by IFNgamma the gene coding for the high affinity receptor for IgG, the FcgammaRI or CD64.
• 1995-2000, Biology of Immune Regulations Unit (Claude Leclerc) on Antibody specificity study directed against an envelope protein of HIV-1 in HIV vaccine trials. Study of the antigenicity and immunogenicity of fusion proteins MalE carrying an epitope of HIV-1.
• 2001-2002, Bordetella Unit (Nicole Guiso) on The ability to study the adenylate cyclase of Bordetella pertussis to induce T cell activation. Developing means of prevention against pertussis, immunotherapy and new vaccine.
In June 2002, Eliane joined the International Affairs Department- Institut Pasteur International Network as Senior Project Manager responsible of International Training and Development of Young Researchers in the Institut Pasteur International Network in charge of the Calmette & Yersin International Training Program, Fellowships, G4 and Pasteur International Joint Research Units.
