INTERNSHIP
01/07/2015 – 01/08/2015 Hospital General Universitari de Castelló, Castellón, Spain
120 hours completed in the microbiology department of a hospital lab.
Tasks completed: Pipetting, bacterial isolation and streaking on agar plates, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Gram staining, Giemsa staining, agglutination and microscopy.
CURRENT ROLES
Immunology level 3 class representative and immunology convenor for the Glasgow University Infection & Immunity society.
SKILLS
- Communication and social skills
Easily approachable person, with good social skills, friendly and responsible, such skills are useful when carrying out my roles as class representative and as convenor of the Infection and Immunity Society. - Time management and organization
Completed a number of experiments, used for patient diagnosis, in a limited time during my hospital laboratory internship, all the results were delivered before the time limit was reached.
During university practical laboratories several tests had to be carried out during the laboratory duration. - Analysis and critical thinking
Writing university laboratory reports and essays requiring data analysis and evaluation. - Language skills
Fluent English, studied in a bilingual school, and currently studying a degree in Glasgow.
Fluent Catalan, studied at school and a large number of people speak it as a mother tongue where I grew up.
Beginner’s level German, studied at school and high school. - Laboratory skills
Very good at pipetting, plate streaking, staining and knowledgeable about many other techniques developed at university laboratory and strongly reinforced during the hospital lab internship. - Computer skills
Can use databases such as NCBI, EMBL, Ensemble, Uniprot, OMIM, efficiently.
Basic Python knowledge.
